Western Disturbance to affect hills on Monday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a new Western Disturbance that is set to influence weather conditions across North India from Monday, February 9, 2026. According to the latest update, the system is expected to bring rain and snowfall to the western Himalayan region, impacting hill areas over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The IMD bulletin indicated that precipitation activity in the mountains is likely to intensify with the arrival of the disturbance, with snow expected at higher elevations and rain in lower hill regions and adjoining areas.

Delhi temperatures expected to rise

For the national capital, the IMD forecast points to a gradual increase in temperatures in the coming days. After a period of cooler conditions, daytime readings are expected to trend upward, reflecting a warming phase even as weather activity develops over the hills.

The outlook suggests that Delhi’s weather will remain generally stable, with a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures anticipated over the short term.

Fog conditions likely in parts of Uttar Pradesh

In the plains, the IMD has flagged fog as a continuing concern in parts of Uttar Pradesh. Pockets of reduced visibility are expected, particularly during late night and early morning hours, which can affect road travel and transport schedules.

The forecast notes that fog conditions may vary by location and intensity, with some areas likely to experience denser spells than others.

Mountain weather: rain and snowfall expected

With the Western Disturbance moving in, the IMD expects widespread changes across the higher reaches of North India. Rain and snow over the Himalayas can lead to difficult travel conditions in mountain districts, including slippery roads and low visibility, depending on local intensity and elevation.

IMD updates will provide district-level guidance as the system approaches and progresses through the region.
