Tribute and renewed pledge on International Women’s Day

The Developing Women for Mobilisation (DWM) has used International Women’s Day 2026 to honour its late President, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, and restate its commitment to advancing gender equality.

The event coincided with global observances held on March 8, with the international theme for 2026 announced as “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls”.

According to information published by MyJoyOnline, DWM marked the day by highlighting its continued focus on women’s rights and equal opportunities, linking the organisation’s current agenda to the legacy of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

Focus on rights, justice and action

International Women’s Day is observed worldwide to draw attention to the status of women and girls and to encourage steps that support equality.

This year’s theme placed emphasis on practical action alongside rights and justice. DWM’s message aligned with that framing, as the group reiterated its pledge to work toward gender equality.

The organisation also positioned the tribute as a reminder of the role leadership and advocacy can play in pushing issues affecting women and girls onto national and community agendas.

Remembering a key figure in the organisation

DWM’s tribute centred on Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, described by the organisation as its late President. The occasion was used to acknowledge her place within the group and to recognise her contribution to its identity and direction.

While International Women’s Day events often focus on present day challenges, DWM’s commemoration added an element of remembrance, linking past efforts to ongoing work in support of women and girls.
